A native to Weymouth, Massachusetts, Signe is proud of her local community. Attending school a stone’s throw away at Boston’s Wentworth Institute of Technology. During her time working towards her Bachelor of Science, Signe became incredibly passionate about Healthcare design. She is inspired by the power that spaces have to comfort and cure.

At Phase Zero Design, Signe plays an integral role on our Healthcare design team. You will find her over the shoulder of junior staff, coaching and collaborating. She takes great pride in her attention to detail, and is always challenging herself to reduce the number of ‘redlines.’

What is the most important tool of your trade, and why?

It might be kind of obvious, but a ruler or tape measure. When you’re on site, it is important to be able to take accurate measurements. When you’re drafting plans, it is important to be able to scale them appropriately. Having a good ruler and tape measure is must for anyone in the A/E/C space.

What inspires you most about your field?

I am inspired by the opportunity to transform a space into something unique. There are so many choices for finishes to make a space fun and creative. It is important to me to consider as many as possible.

How do you define the success of a project?

One way I see a project turning out successful is when the space is almost identical to the renderings created during the schematic phase. The other is knowing your client is excited and happy with how the project turned out.
