Massachusetts native, Kyla Ellis, has always had a passion for design. Working with whatever scraps and left over pieces she could pull together from her father’s carpentry work, Kyla found great joy in creating something out of nothing. Eventually, this hobby developed into an obsession and she knew it was how she wanted to make a living. Kyla made the decision to attend the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Interior Architecture and Design.

Following graduation, Kyla joined the Phase Zero Design team. She was attracted to the firm because of the diverse client body it serves, and the mission that drives it.

Currently exploring innovations within Corporate and Healthcare markets, Kyla Ellis approaches new opportunities with a confident smile. She is excited to expand her horizons, and design for a range of industries.

Describe your dream project.

My dream project would be to create a state of the art hotel that is 100% accessible. This meaning every aspect is user friendly to anyone who would use it. Accessibility is extremely important in public spaces especially hotels which are frequented by many guests. Having this type of accessibility will create a outstanding, inviting, and inclusive environment.

What does it mean to you to be 100% client-centric?

Being 100% client-centric means that the clients and their needs are our first priority when working on projects. That means listening and really following their lead when it comes to any elements or ideas they may want to incorporate into the design. Really taking the time to get to know the client and what they envision for the functionality and aesthetic presence of their space.

Describe the moment you realized interior design was for you.

The moment I realized that interior design was something I wanted to pursue was when I was around ten years old. I began working with my dad doing carpentry, and I watched him piece together different projects step by step. From framing, to brand new additions with alluring finishes, fixtures, and furniture selections. I knew I wanted to be a part of the industry and create my own designs.
