What is the most important tool of your trade, and why?
Trace paper, pen, and pencil: they are integral parts of my design and documentation process. Drawing by hand gives me a physical connection to the design process and a better understanding of how to potentially shape the space.
Describe your dream project.
My dream project would be an art studio or an installation/experimental space, similar to Meow Wolf, Burning Man, or other interactive art installations and experiences. I would like to use my architectural knowledge to create experiential spaces that are out of the ordinary and leave memorable impressions on users.
Describe the moment you realized architecture was for you.
Working as a carpenter after high school, I realized that I loved construction and building things. However, the trades did not allow me the creative expression I sought in physical constructs. Architecture allowed me to design and ultimately build things while exercising my creative side as well.
